California’s Cavallo Point Lodge has become the first U.S. National Park Lodge and the first on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places to gain LEED Certification.

Set within the Golden Gate Recreation Area at Fort Baker, the lodge is now certified by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) with a LEED Gold standard for environmentally sustainable design and construction.

Called an “environmentally sustainable ‘base camp’ where the city’s urban edge meets the rugged Marin Coast”, the lodge is popular for travelers who want to explore the  San Francisco Bay Area and the wine country of Napa and Sonoma.

“We are very proud that Cavallo Point is the first National Park lodge to receive the LEED Gold certification.
