traveling greener especially loves iPhone apps which make it possible to go (almost) paperless, pack lighter and find green services or products. The best part is many apps are free, inexpensive or affordable.
Recently, traveling greener used apps for diverse travel needs including exploring Amsterdam; researching green restaurants; cycling in Rome; playing Scrabble and social media.

iGreen is pretty for keeping up with Green news, and What’s Fresh is a nice alternative to Urban Spoon when looking for local meals.
Thanks for the post.
I did a post a while ago in 8 iPhone apps for F.I.T travellers. Maybe you find it useful.

Thanks for the great suggestions, Peter!
My iPhone has become indispensable in my life.
I use MyEyesOnly app all the time. It gives me a password protected place to keep all my important info. Logins & pwds to all the sites I belong to, credit card info – all that good stuff. And because you need a password to access it, even if my phone got stolen the info is protected.
I like my Lifecards app which lets me create e-postcards and e-mail them to friends and clients ‘on the fly’.
I use Voice Memo to turn my phone into a voice recorder in case great ideas strike. But more importantly because I write articles and blog postings while traveling, when I come across someone interesting I can tape the interview on the spot.
I also have Headspace’s mindmapping app. Again, the process of travel often gets my mind hopping with new ideas for books, articles, blog postings, etc. I can outline them in Headspace while the idea is hot so that I can act upon it when my life is more settled.
I use the Epicurious app cause I love to cook for myself when I can when on the road. So I can always find a good recipe for whatever ingredients I have.
And I mustn’t forget Sol Free which gives me hours of playing Spider and other games when I’m stuck in airports, bored on a flight or otherwise just want to while away some time.

Thanks so much, Gwen! For some people, the i in iPhone seems to stand for “indispensable”. I really appreciate you taking time to share your app recommendations. I’m definitely going to check out the ones I didn’t know about.
I am addicted to the Weather Channel app!

Thanks, it’s a great app for travelers!
The iPhone has revolutionized mobile computing, especially with regards to all the new location based applications, like HotelsNearMe, that use GPS to find answers in your vicinity.
Thank u all for the recs! My favorite 2 apps are: IM+ in which I can combine MSN Live Messenger and Twitter (That way I can always follow Twitter.com/TravelingGreen and all my tweeps everywhere) and GeoTwitter which allows the user to tweet with proof… Location name, Map, Stars Rating, and Pic can be added to the tweet. Both are free!
Start living greener and you’ll be surprised how results go beyond expected! …and sooner than expected! What’s good for the planet, goes arround for you!
Thanks Misael! GeoTwitter sounds interesting, I must check that one out.
