Christmas Markets In France

A Christmas market in Colmar, France.
Christmas markets are coming alive throughout Europe.
In France, Alsace has 100+ open-air Christmas markets held throughout Advent.
Dating from 1570, the Christkindelsmarik in Strasbourg is considered the oldest Christmas Market in Europe.
In Alsace, Christmas market stalls offer provincial specialties including spiced local sausages, sauerkraut, foie gras, mulled wine, spiced breads, Yule log, locally brewed beer and the region’s wines.
Christmas shoppers can browse traditional handicrafts like glass and baubles, earthenware cake dishes and culinary accessories, jewelery and toys.
One popular Alsace destination is the town of Colmar known for its Christmas traditions.
The charming, decorated town features five Christmas markets, concerts, storytelling, Father Christmas’ giant letterbox and an illuminated ice skating rink.
