Have you ever wondered what’s your carbon footprint during your hotel stay?

Finland’s Klaus K  Hotel has become one of the first hotels to provide its guests with exact information on their carbon footprint.  On the hotel’s website, a carbon footprint calculator, developed by Ecompter, allows guests to calculate their carbon footprint per night of their stay.

“We started the cooperation with Ecompter as we want to be the front runner in our field by our own actions, “explains Mia Cederberg-Skvorc, the hotel’s director of sales and operations. “With the help of the calculator, we can measure our carbon footprint in real time and develop our further actions in more environmental friendly directions based on the calculator results.”

Average carbon dioxide emission for a one-night stay at a hotel is between 10 – 30 kg CO2-e, according to Ecompter.com.  Hotel carbon emissions include direct and indirect emissions of consumption of electricity, heating energy, water and waste.
