Camping trips can be the most authentic, nature travel experiences you’ll ever have.

traveling greener loves camping (leaving no trace) and guidebooks from Rough Guides.  That’s why we were excited to hear about the new The Rough Guide to Camping in Britain coming out in March 2010.

The guidebook brings travelers the best campsites across Britain, from simple sites in wilderness locations to glampsite chic with chandeliers.

Some 300+ camp sites were tried and tested for novice camper to seasoned tent-rigger. The full-color book also covers “the best kit, adventure sports, the top festivals and where to head for a spot of wild camping”.

According to the book, here are Britain’s Best Campsites for Food and Drink:

  • Abbey Home Farm – “Gloucestershire’s organic wonderland even has a resident cheesemaker.”
  • Dennis Cove – “Set on a beautiful estuary ten minutes from Padstow, with Rick Stein, a fish market and a vineyard on its doorstop.”
  • Hidden Spring – “Relaxed Sussex vineyard offering strong cider and its own wine.”
  • Talton Lodge - “Home-grown food, pasta-making courses and breakfast boxes at a tipi site near Stratford.”

Are you looking for a greener nutrition bar for your travels?

This summer, we hit the road with PROBAR nutrition bars sent over by a company representative for review.  These high quality nutrition bars were the perfect travel companion on camping, cycling, hiking and day trips.

The best part is they are 100 percent vegan and rich in raw, organic ingredients.  Their Sweet & Savory bars were flavorful, satisfying and filling as whole meal replacements or snacks in flavors including Sesame Goji, Maple Pecan and Kettle Corn.

PROBAR’s newest line, fruition, a collection of snack bars blended with organic fruit, was a fast favorite especially Peach (above).  This super food snack bar blends organic oats and organic fruit chunks with chia seeds and cashews.

Low in sugar, 160 calories and easy-to-carry at 48g,  fruition bars are nutritionally dense and rich in antioxidants and essential fatty acids.  Chia seeds are an ancient, high-energy food indigenous to North, Central and South America.
