When to Visit Dubai
As with most vacation destinations, the weather plays a big part in the travel industry in Dubai. From May through September, the temperature is almost always higher than 100 degrees Fahrenheit with 90 percent humidity. The crowds are less at this time and the hotel rooms are cheaper. The good news is, Dubai has excellent air condition in most buildings including a 1200-shop mall, and there is an indoor skiing slope. When you are outdoors in the heat, make sure you are at the beach, or at a water park or near your hotel’s pool.
The high season is between October and April, and the room rates are higher because people from all over the world flock to the warm winter climate.
Cheap Hotel Rooms
The Deira neighborhood is north of the city and is the place were the first settlers in the area lived. You’ll get a look at the old city and visit the fish market and fruit and vegetable market where you can browse and shop. There are also many small shops or souks in the area where you’ll find spices, traditional medicinal remedies and much more. The Gold Souk is a huge marketplace that has more than 700 jewelry shops where the prices are actually reasonable. Even so, you are expected to haggle.
Located on the western side of Dubai Creek is Bur Dubai, which is another historic neighborhood. The Bastakia Quarter is very picturesque and there are several cheap hotels. This is the place to learn about Muslim culture. The Jumeirah Mosque is the only one in Dubai that non-Muslims may enter, and the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding is nearby where you can get a taste of local cuisine at the breakfasts and lunches served at the Centre.
Several of Dubai’s luxury hotels also offer lower prices. It’s worth taking the time to research because the luxury amenities are amazing, and you won’t have to pay five or even seven-star prices.
