Green Car Coming To Hawaii

2011 100% Electric CODA Sedan.
American company CODA Automotive has announced its 2011 100% Electric CODA Sedan will be available in Hawaii.
The California-based company designs, manufactures and sells all-electric vehicles and battery systems for transportation and utility related applications. In late 2010, it anticipates the first models will be delivered in California.
The Hawaii Clean Energy Initiative calls for Hawaii to have clean energy account for 70 percent of its total energy needs by 2030.
Says Hawaii Governor Linda Lingle:
“CODA Automotive’s all-electric vehicle is another important addition to Hawaii’s efforts to transition to a clean energy economy. The State of Hawaii recognizes new electric vehicle technology and the electrification of the transportation sector will play a critical role in helping Hawaii reduce its dependency on the use of fossil fuels…”
CODA Automotive says its new car is a four-door, five-passenger car, powered by an all-electric drive system, including a CODA-designed 33.8 kWh Lithium-ion battery system.
The company says “over 100,000 miles of use, each CODA Sedan will result in an average CO2 savings of 21.8 tons relative to a 25 MPG internal combustion engine-based car.”
